Book of Theodore de Guignard

This book belonged to Theodore de Guignard, the founder of secret Brotherhood of the Book. Theodore was a very wise scholar who believed in the power of knowledge. He also believed there will be some kind of a big catastrophe or apocalypse in the future and all knowledge which will survive will be very precious in the attempt to restore the civilisation. Therefore he founded the brotherhood to gather and keep the knowledge for the future generations.

Legend says that there are 12 leaders and each has 12 apprentices. When the master dies they will elect the new master and will find a new apprentice to fill master's old place. Only masters know another masters, apprentices know only their own master. Once one of the apprentices is appointed for master he will get the access to all belongings of old master and will be contacted by one of the remaining masters to get the full introduction into his duties and responsibilities.

The book itself contains Theodore's thoughts on knowledge, sharing of information, principals of keeping the knowledge and keeping the brotherhood in secret as there might be people in the future who will be against wise people as we may seen in the past. It is the most precious artefact in possession of the Brotherhood of the book and only it's masters know the location of this book. The book looks very old and used, it is bound in wooden desks with metal decoration, the pages were written by Theodore and iluminated by his original apprentices or so the legend says.

Author of the original picture is deviantik.
